I have been trying to take my old VCR tapes and save them on the computer and
burn DVD-r but when I connect it to the Sony Vaio media center with RCA jacks
and push capture video it does not detect it with an error message. I have
also tried Pinnacle version 9 do do this as well and does not work. I tried
a DV pass through through my camcorder and connected to the 1394 port and
does not work on either software. It will play into the camcorder and on
Sony's version of a tv moniyer when I plugg it in the rear RCA jacks. ANy
ideas how to capture the device or do I need a updated analog converter?
Thanks for any help

Can you capture DV from your video camera?? Not your vhs, but dv from the
camcorder.
First, make sure you can capture from the dv camera to computer.

To use camcorder as pass thru:
On my JVC camcorder, you have to set the AV input to 'on' in the camcorder
menu.
It should tell you how to use the camcorder for pass thru in your camcorder
manual.

I plug my vcr into the input jacks ( or the s video input if you have a
s-video vcr) and use the camcorder as a recorder. To capture to the computer
through the 1394 port, I just don't put a tape in the camcorder.

Good luck...

thanks I'll try this
