Using XP, I have imported DV into Windows Movie Maker, edited, viewed and
saved to PC, I also sent to CD which I can play back windows Media Player
but am unable to play on the home DVD player. Have I done something wrong?
Any suggestions please.

Your DVD player will not play videos in the format that is on your CD. It
might be able to play it if saved as a video cd but you have to check your
owners manual to see what your DVD player capabilities are. You may have to
burn your movie to a DVD which is an option that Movie Maker does not have.
That would require another software package and a DVD burner.

OK - Many thanks

To take the other answer a little further, movie maker makes HiMat cd's
which are only playable on pc's, so if you save your movie as a dv-avi and
then use 3rd party software, such as vcdeasy, you can make a cd which will
play on lots of dvd players.
heres a link to vcdeasy, and a tutorial.

Use www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers to check out what your player will play.

Maybe you could help me with another problem. I have no problems in making
the movie and playing it in storyline window. But, when I save it to "My
Computer" as a DV-AVI/NTSC file and try to play it on Windows Media Player,
it plays but I get skips and jumps in both the sound and picture. I have
included in the movie both still pictures and video clips (that have been
edited for length and sound). Any suggestions?? Thanks.

What format were the pictures? If they were anything other than BMP try
converting them then removing the originals from your movie (project) then
replacing with the BMPs. Now render your movie again to AVI and see if it
helped.
