Ok, kids.
Let's see what I did wrong here, shall we?
I imported a WMV file from another PC. About 30 minutes of video
footage at 720 X 480 and 29.9 frames per second a.k.a. Standard NTSC.
Encoded in WMV. In other words, I am using a Microsoft program to
import a Micosoft video file, and it quits on me.
Here's what happens, in case you can't view this. I imported the
video, and then I can't play it, I can't see what frame I'm on - I
can't do squat. But hey, on the bright side it didn't lock up my PC>
In case you're windering, I'm on a P4 2.8 with a gig of RAM.

I was forced to use this; if it was up to me I would use Sony Vegas.
So here I am a captive to WMM.
I know some of you think WMM is th best thing since... well the last
version of WMM, so seeing this video will be like denouncing the birth
of Christ.

Enjoy.

If MovieMaker crashes, then the most common cause is another filter causing
a problem. Try going into the compatibility tab and turning off the filters
you see there to see if it helps. See the following post for more details.

you didn't watch the video, did you?

It isn't "crashing" its simply not working. What filters can I
possibly disable regarding a standard WMV file? Its a native
microsoft format.

Other filters can still cause problems with the playback, so it's still a
good idea to go into the compatibility tab and turn them off if you're
having problems. The other thing that can cause playback problems if the
video driver, so it's already a good idea to check you have the latest video
driver installed, but I would definitely try the compatibility tab first.
Cheers
Dean.
