I recently bought an HP 420i DVD burner and I am trying to convert the WMM slideshow I made of my trip to Ireland to a media format the HP will burn, without success. I've read around groups, etc. and haven't yet figured out how to do this. When I try to burn the VCD it kicks out my DVD-RW and says to check the media. The only thing I can figure out is that the HP burner doesn't like WMM format, but I can't figure out how to change it or save it. Anyone have this figured out? All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Save a DV-AVI from Movie Maker, then use whatever software came with your
burner to author (layout and burn) the DVD or VCD.

Hello there,

Movie Maker turns its toes up if you give it anything other than a CD. Some
have even had trouble giving it a CD in a dvd burner.

In any case. The format Movie Maker creates on a CD is not at this time
playable on anything other than a computer. They will not work in your domestic
DVD machine (The format it creates is High Mat Video)

If you want to use the DVD as simple storage for the video you should use Movie
Maker to create a DV-AVI file and use ordinary burning software to put that on
a dvd disk.

If you want to use it in a domestic DVD machine you would still need to create
the DV-AVI file and then import that to a DVD Authoring program which should
also be able to create chapters for you.

Hope this helps.

Movie Maker will ONLY let me save to that file type. No other choices. I get the same results if I make the slide show using the Arc Soft ShowBiz2 software that came with the HP burner. I get the same rejection based on 'media'. Very frustrating.

Thanks for any help.

Movie Make will not give me the choice of saving to any other file type. (MSWMM)
Don't know how to save to an Avi. Thanks for any help.

Hello there,

Yes, I think I can see the problem here....I think you are saving the project,
but you are not creating the video. To reach DV-AVI you should click on FILE >
SAVE MOVIE and then follow that dialog....it will eventually ask what type of
file you want, there are maybe 2 dozen sizes and two basic types (WMV & DV-AVI)

Hope that helps a little.
