for some reason, movie maker is still in version 2.0 despite the fact that
the sp2 update was made long long ago. in addition, the program has begun
crashing every time i open the program. the official answer from microsoft
is that i should update to sp2, which brings me back to the original issue...

help?

thank you for the help, but i either overlooked something or something is
seriously amuck. A) there is not a C:/window/servicepackfiles/ folder that i
can see. B) a search through the system finds 2.1.4... compontents listed
EXCEPT for the moviemk.exe, which only appears in a 2.0.3 version

you won't have a service pack folder if you installed it and opted not to
create the set of files for easy repairs... or as on my new laptop, the
computer was built after SP2 and includes all of it's updates.

did you search you entire system for other copies of moviemk.exe? and if you
have your SP2 disc, you can unpack it from it... or download the service
pack
