This is literally months that I get a pop-up message saying that I must install a new version of Windows Messenger. I tried to disable Windows Messenger but the pop-up still comes asking me to say yes or no to whether I want to install the new version. How can I get rid of the pop-up?

if you're not using the messenger...open it and go to
preferences...deselect all auto loadings and you will be
OK.

Hi,

Uninstall messenger if you cannot disable it (note that disabling it may
involve not only unchecking it in the startup tab of msconfig, but also any
other program that invokes it may have a setting to disable it as well). To
uninstall, copy/paste this into a start/run prompt and click "ok":

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
