Windows Messenger

I currently have Zona Alarm on my computer and realized
that over the past week Windows Messenger (4.7) is
accessing the internet on its own!!! WHY IS IT DOING
THIS??!! I have removed the program (windows components
uninstall) and it is still trying to access the net. I
have it blocked by Zone Alarm but it is annoying and quite
frankly a bit spooky that is started this all of a sudden?!

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!
