Windows Messenger

I have tried a few methods I saw online to rid myself of this program but
every time I start XP up it again asks me to sign in and when I don't it
still leaves a icon saying not signed on in toolbar.
How may I rid myself of this unwanted pest.

I removed mine a long time ago and I have forgotten which of these I
used.

Disable Messenger: http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/disabmes.htm

Prevent Windows Messenger from automatically running:

Remove MS Messenger:
Paste the command below in the Start-Run box: (one line but may wrap
at the space before %windir%)

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
%windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
