Hey PA Bear...
Thanks, but I had tried that... when I get to the last step, the Windows
messenger has the value of 0.0 MB, I even tried to uncheck the box and
recheking, but nothing has changed....
When I tried to download from the windows site, it tells me that I have to
install the service pack, done that and still with the value of 0.0 MB....

What to do next???

It sounds like Windows Messenger may have been disabled, removed or deleted
at some point in the past. This page of Kelly's may give you some ideas of
how this may have been done and possibly a way to reverse it:
http://kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_messenger.htm. (NB: On Kelly's page,
Messenger = Windows Messenger; references to MSN Messenger are clear
enough.)

Windows Messenger-specific newsgroup:

microsoft.public.windowsxp.messenger

On the web:
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie....aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windowsxp.messenger

In your newsreader:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windowsxp.messenger
