Windows Messenger won't launch

Windows Messenger for XP no longer launches on my
computer. Tried downloading and re-installing, but
didn't help. When I go to the msmsgs.exe file and double
click, nothing happens. When I go to shut down, computer
hangs up due to this file though.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

dave says=Windows Messenger and MSN messenger are two
different programs. i think u have to subscribe (Pay For)
Windows Messenger to get it to work. MSN messenger 6 (the
newest) cand be down loaded and used for free=goto the MSN
down load page. Good Luck
