Windows messenger verses MSN messenger 6.0

I used to work with WINDOWS MESSENGER but switched over
to MSN Messenger 6.0.
My problem? Every time I get a contact from a friend
Windows Messenger opens up automatcally, whereas I do no
longer want to use it.
How do I get rid of it? I tried "Control Panel"
add/remove but am unable to locate it.

Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Add/Remove Windows
Click to expand...
Components(on the left)> scroll down > uncheck Windows
Messenger
 
Tips on how to remove Windows Messenger


Edit the file sysoc.inf located in C:\Windows\inf

Edit the line
msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7
Remove the "hide" word.

msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,,7

Save your changes, now you should be able to remove
Windows Messenger through the Add\Remove Windows
Components Panel.
