Windows Messenger over LAN

Is it possible to send Windows Messages over my home LAN (3 wireless PCs via
an Access Point) - rather than via the internet?
I have seen other software advertised (eg LanTalk) but would prefer to keep
to just one Messenger service if posible (and of course avoid any additional
cost).
Very impressed by the User group that most questions receive
helpful/informative replies.

Easiest option?

Net send from a command prompt :) (unless you have the service disabled)

Other than that I believe you would need to try a third party software
solution
(unless you're in a corporate environment and want to establish your own
messenger server)

Greetings RW,

Unfortunately no, not without a SIP-Based Communications Server or Exchange Server (obviously
not for the home environment) to handle the local instant messaging.
