windows messenger help PLEASE!!!!

For some reason out of the blue my windows messenger is
starting automatically and logging me in .. i have
checked everything i can think of ... It is set to NOT
start with Windows... it is not set in my OE i have no
clue what changed .... it never did this before ... i
even uninstalled windows messenger and when i rebooted
bam it logged me back on .. a lil freaky .. i cant
understand what is going on but it will log me out of MSN
messenger and log me into windows messenger all on its
own .. any help or advice would be so great

The uninstall worked for me, but another somewhat inelegant (but very
simple) alternative is to rename the C:\Program Files\Messenger directory,
to say C:\Program Files\MessengerDead. This will definitely stop it.

Also if you look here http://tinyurl.com/2qx7r there is a tool called
"Disable/Remove Windows Messenger" that will remove it, obviously not
supported by Microsoft.
 
I have exactly the same problem with mine. I want to use
MSN messenger, obviously because it's newer and better but
the minute I sign on to the internet it signs me on to the
ancient windows messenger. I too have uninstalled it to
no avail. My computer now won't let me install MSN
messenger 6.1 again.
