Does this really exist? If so where?

Under Help in Windows Messenger 5.1 (Tips and Troubleshooting) {Why can't I
communicate using advanced features?} There is a link for the Windows
Messenger Connection Wizard. When you click on said link it does NOT take
you to said wizard.

Please help!

Greetings,

As far as I was aware, the connection wizard never actually shipped for Windows Messenger
(there was one, but I don't think it was ever finished).

Assuming you're just using the public .NET Messenger network, why not try using MSN Messenger
instead?

Thank you for the wonderful advice! MSN Messenger works like a charm!
Again, thank you!

This allowed me to bypass the wizard which wouldn't work :) Maybe someone
more knowledgable can fill me in if there's a better way.

Sorry for waking this old thread to life, but I thought it appropriate to
provide a solution.

Hi,

Actually the wizard mentioned by the original poster is the web-based connectivity wizard
which used an ActiveX control -- not the audio tuning wizard that the application uses, so
there's no reg key involved.

For best results for Audio/Video outside of an enterprise, Windows Live Messenger should
really be used now instead anyway.

I prefer using windows messenger because of its smaller resource usage.. I
don't have to close it when playing games et cetera. Anyway, my problem had
nothing to do with audio... When I just installed it, I had to follow the
..NET-passport wizard something which wouldn't work, that's what I managed to
bypass with that registry key.
