windows messenger cannot receive instant messages

Situtation: Corporate Envirionment, IM only used internally, user can send
instant messages all day long to any contact, but cannot get any message from
anyone anytime. Have removed/readded account...uninstalled/reinstalled
messenger...what else to look for?

Any help is appreceiated...

Greetings,

Could the user have a firewall engaged (even the Windows built-in one)? If so, shut it off
entirely or in the case of the third-party products, uninstall it.

we have those settings run by group policy...remember i said its in a corp
environment...it's controlled. you cant use it unless the security group lets
you and yes this user has been given access to this program and has been
using it for a while now
