How do you remove Windows Messenger 5.0? I want to reinstall 4.7 because it notifies you when you receive a new Hotmail message. Once before Jonathan sent me instructions to copy and paste in the "run" box to remove and reinstall 4.7 when I was having trouble and he fixed it for me. Thanks for any help and I apologize if this has been asked before but I could not locate it.

Just go back to the windows messenger website and re-install messenger 4.7.
The install files should automatically uninstall 5.0 and re-install windows
messenger 4.7 version. I did this too and realized I was not receiving
anymore new e-mail alerts. Hope this helps!

Greetings Perry,

What Jeff told you is completely valid and will work, however, if you want to do it "by the
book" to remove Windows Messenger 5, first make sure that Windows Messenger is shut down
(right-click its icon in the notification area/system tray, and choose Exit), then click
Start, then Run, and type in the following:
msiexec /x {4A432C6C-1E20-4266-95D1-5782349C6C62}
and then click OK.

Thanks Jeff and especially Jonathan. You always seem to be able to help when I have a problem. Thanks to both of you.

Windows Messenger 5 installs a copy of the installation program in the
directory:

C:\\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Windows
Messenger_5.0.0468

By default this directory is hidden. You can right-mouse button on the .msi
file and choose Uninstall.
