0xc0000005 looks like it is a sound encoding problem - have you downloaded any codec packs off the internet?

Ian, no the problem has only resulted in downloaded music(legal) I understand the error code is one of access. I have tried to remove my DRM file, it just keeps coming back?. Ihave started a clean boot but there is a tick in LOAD STARTUP GROUP ITEMS BOX, microsoft in article 267288 says get assistance from the manufacturer of the program that place the check mark back into Msconfig, How do I find this one ??

Windows ME was littered with problems and was very unstable at the best of times ...memory leaked all over the place.. so yes go ahead and upgrade to xp if you can, its not infallible but its a darn sight better than Me ever was...;)

Yes, my first thoughts as well.

Or try googling for audio codecs and install all of 'em.
