Hey:

Whenever I re-start my computer Media Player no longer
plays any sound. I can see the music playing and the skins
are working fine, but no sound. Let me explain further. If
I reset my sound card settings (Creative), shutdown and
restart, and then play Media Player I get sound and
everything works fine. Once the computer gets shut down (I
have it in hibernate mode) and then restarts later on I no
longer have sound. I must reset my sound card settings
again, reboot and then I have sound. I have uninstalled
and reinstalled Media Player on two occasions, but it
didn't help. I am running XP Home Edition(upgraded from
ME, it was the deal where Dell gave you the "free" upgrade
to XP) on a Dell Dimension 8200 (256K) and it says all my
settings and hardware are fine. I have had no other
problems with XP and have been very satisfied with it.
But, this little glitch is getting old. Can anyone help me
out? Thanks in advance.

Ed

To my knowledge (and my girlfriend's experience), this should be a bug in
your sound card driver in that it is not handling hibernate
gracefully/correctly. You would want to either check on
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
or at Creative's web site to check if they have an updated driver that may
fix this for you.
