Windows Media Player v10 not playing AVI from file server

Has anyone heard of an AVI file not being able to be played from a file
server in v10 of WMP? Seems bizarre to me but I'll get audio but no video
when it resides on a file server. If I throw the AVI onto my local HD it
plays just fine. I've tested this on multiple vendor PC's and multiple file
servers and is consistent. v8 of WMP works. All PCs Windows XP SP2

It could be a "license issue" or a firewall/security issue.
There may be an issue with network connection and DEP which
can block file execution. An AVI file can have many codecs
and even embedded code that may be blocked.

It could just be a streaming bandwidth problem, the video
and buffers may not be fast enough to keep up on the
network, but can from the hard drive.

The file server is on the same lan segment as my PC (no firewall in the way).
I guess it "could be" a speed issue but it's a 100mb LAN and being a lan
admin the performance is quite adaquate. To Yves' comment: Since it will play
when copied to my HD it's not a codec issue. An update; If I take another
WINXP-SP2 box with WMP v8 and open the same AVI it has video/works. Real
Player & Quicktime also play fine so don't think we have some fancy codec
going on. I was wondering if it was some imbedded security thing but I
couldn't find it. The AVI's are generated with a Logitech webcam but they
seemed clueless to support. After doing further testing if I copied some
other non-logitech avi to the server it'd play fine. WTF...
