Windows Media Player Sound problem

The sound on Windows Media Player 11.0 does not play well. All the sound
files on my computer play properly when played by their own source. When any
of these files are played on the Media Player, the first 20 seconds or so is
scatchy and full of static. From that point on it plays fine. The
visualization stalls during the 20 sec period. Any new file plays OK as long
as the Media Player is left open before playing the next sound file. Same
situation playing a CD or a video. Reinstalling the Media Player has no
effect. Defragging , System errors check, and Bad Sectors check all have no
effect. Systme Restore has no effect. Any ideas?
 
Hi- Thank you for your reply. I didn't realize there is a specific Media
Player group.
