I have done 3 photo videos in Movie Maker. Two of them work fine. The other
gets to one slide and stays there. Music continues to play. I have recopied
to Media Player about 6 times. No luck. I want to copy this for my parents.
I am so frustrated!

Try downloading windows encoder 9 series, after youve made a video, run them
thru the encoder(convert),then wmp.

Andrew,

Thanks so much for your response. I am trying to download encoder but it
has stopped at 68%. I will leave it alone for now and see if it will
download completely. I'm not sure what you mean by run them through the
encoder, then wmp, but I will worry about that after it is downloaded. Can I
contact you again about this issue if it doesn't work? I am heading out of
town and won't get back to this until Friday. I appreciate your help so
much! Dee

Andrew,

I have downloaded the encoder. The video is in Movie Maker. How do I run
it through the encoder? I've tried to figure it out but I've given up. I
appreciate all the help you can give me! Thanks, Dee

Movie maker often has problems with jpegs stills. It is really a video
editing app. Two options really.
Check all stills are sized in a 4.3 ratio, so 640x480 etc, are not very high
resolution, change them to bitmaps, ensure there are no problems on the
timeline like gaps etc. Use wav isntead of mp3 music.

Other option is to use photostory3, also free from microsoft, which is
designed for making slideshows.

Thanks Graham. You have been very helpful. I have downloaded Photo Story 3
and I will use that in the future. I was not aware that Movie Maker was for
just video. I did not want to recreate my parents slideshow if I don't have
to because it is quite long and was alot of work. I am renaming the photos
as bmp files and that seems to be making a difference. I'm still having some
problems because I didn't rename all the pictures so I will continue to
rename them and hope for the best. At least I feel like I am getting
somewhere now! I appreciate your help so much, Dee

Graham,

As I stated before, I have 2 videos that are just fine and then this one has
driven me crazy! I am really getting somewhere now. The video has gone
almost to the end. I think one more try and I will have it finished once and
for all. You are awesome!!!!!

Hi! I don't mean to crash your post but I am having some problems too! How do
you change all your pics to bitmaps? Do you do this in the storyline or do
you have to cut out each picture, rename it and then replace it in the
storyline..?? I have my video completely DONE and I can't get it to save.
It's driving me NUTS because I'm getting married in three days and this is
used for the reception. I am going crazy wtih it and like you, I don't want
to have to recreate the whole thing...I couldn't even if I wanted to becuase
I've spent 60 hours on it and I could never re-do all of that in this short
of a time.

Any help you could give me would be great!

====================================
You convert the images to .bmp and then import
them into Movie maker which means you would
have to re-create the project.

Before doing anything drastic...try saving your
project in the .wmv format and see if the result
is any better.

To save as a .wmv movie file...
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Tick...'Best Quality For My Computer'
Next/
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...
