windows media player nine

i wanted to find the theme "science" and "the sixties" like i had on my version of windows 98. i like the glass sphere. so when cannot find it here or for free (kind of a bummer since i paid for it in the first pc package) i then decide to buy the "plus digital media download" hoping more themes would be on there. so i download it and it wants to upgrade windows media player to version 9. after some serious thought, i gave in. i had already bought the download. so i did upgarde to media player 9. now all of my audio files sound like crap. i would assume there is no way to go back now. if i did, will the quality of my files degrade further? is thhis a common problem? man, i am such a loser!
