I am trying to help a friend out but can't find any information on the
following error. When he tried to run or reinstall WMP, he gets an error
that says it can't find the msdo.dll file and everything stops. I have
searched for the file on my computer but haven't been able to find it and
yet, my windows media player seems to work just fine. If anyone knows of
this particular problem could you please help us out? Thank you.

Hi,

Try this way, go to control panel and double click the
add or remove program icon to open it. Click the add
windows components icon and check the box windows media
player and click apply or confirm, follow the prompt to
complete the installation. You may need to insert the
original XP CD when prompted.

After finishing installation of WMP8.1., you can run the
setup.exe of the downloaded WMP9 (just simply click the
setup icon), your WMP8.1 will upgrade to WMP9
automatically.

Hope it helps.
For email, remobve the first letter m.
