Phil

i'm using windows media player 9. when i try to play a
song from my list or install a cd for playing in my cd
player i get a message "Windows Media Player cannot play
the file. The file is either corrupt or the Player does
not support the format you are trying to play." When i
clisck on more info it goes to error code OxCOOD1199. Can
any one help me? It used to work at one time. Not sure
when it stopped working to tie it to an incident. Please
feel free to email me to be sure i get your help.

Thank you in advance.
Phil

I downloaded and installed the fix. The same problem
exists. Any suggestions for a try?

Thank you,
Phil

Phil,

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Windows Media Player? If not,
go to Add/Remove Programs and then click Add/Remove Windows Components.
Now scroll down until you you see Windows Media Player. Remove the check
next to in and click Next until it's removed. Now reinstall Media Player 9
again.

Let us know if that works for you.

Jeff

For reference, that only hides and unhides the player, and doesn't actually
uninstall and/or reinstall it. :)

You can simply reinstall the player from the package at
c:\program files\windows media player\installer
- reinstalling the player over the top of itself is a much better idea than
uninstalling it first. :) I wrote the installer, and I wrote it that way.
