windows media player 9 XP

unable to play some AVI video's. I get an error that
says, unable to download codec. I have updated and
patched this damn thing till I'm blue in the face, nothing
helps, any ideas?

Sounds like you have a codec ms doesn't provide. You might be trying to
play divx or xvid files. They're MPEG4 compliant, but WMP9 doesn't
recognize the codec identifier. Try getting ffdshow from
www.sourceforge.net

Don't know if it was worth all the damn spamming I got
