I'm running windows XP Sp2 with all updates in place.

I'm trying to play a DVD using the above media players and can get no sound.
If I play u-tube shows I have sound ok. I don't know what other info I can
give you.

With a DVD in my player or running one from a file on the computer I get the
message:

"Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because a compatible DVD decoder
is not installed on your computer"

Can you explain what this means and how I can fix it?

Thank you in advance

Regards,

Microsoft does not provide a DVD decoder (reads and play DVDs)
directly within any of their Windows Media Player. You need to locate
one and install it yourself.

media player 11 has the ability to play dvd's you may have the sound turned
down
or off. You have to open you sound utility and check there.
