Having a few problems with computer shutting down & restarting itself.
Following instructions re the reporting to Microsoft to find out what was
causing the conflict, it seems to be the Media player 11. Am i alone in this
or have i made an error somewhere. I am not very good at the technical stuff
yet so please help. Can someone also tell me if i can delete some of my hard
drive without using the XP Disc to reload. Thanx in advance

It should be possible to revert to an earlier version of Windows Media
Player if Windows Media Player 11 had been installed as an update. This
is done through the Add/Remove Programs applet in Control Panel. It has
been reported that WMP 11 did add some interesting enhancements, most of
which were supposedly related to DRM and its enforcement.

Many thanx will give it a go and let you know how it works. Any ideas on the
hard drive solution??

What exactly do you want to do with the hard drive? What is its status
or situation right now? Please provide the vital statistics and details.

I keep getting the message that i don't have enough room left for different
things and i have cleared everything i can think of including running a
registry cleaner. I have seen one reply to this type of message that spoke
of using the original disc and just re downloading my windows XP which
supposedly over wrights the hard drive but that would mean losing a lot of
things i want to keep on the computer. Is there another way of clearing the
hard drive of old deleted info.

And this is on a hard drive of how large? How much free space is left
in the hard drive? When was the last time the drive was defragged? Or
when was the last time the recyle bin was emptied? Need the details.

Apologies Ghostrider my computer went down altogether and have had to wait
for Virgin tech to come out re my cable box. I had defragged that same day i
spoke to you as well as clearing off a few things i no longer needed. The
recycle bin is emptied daily. I have been uploading all my programs again
today and believe it or not my computer seemed to be running fine until i
upgraded Media player and internet explorer then my computer started acting
up again.

Welcome to the world of being a real-time, Microsoft and Windows beta
tester. If there were no valid reasons to upgrade to Media Player 11 or
even Internet Explorer 7, then why was it done...other than for the sake
of upgrading? The obvious lesson has been learned. The computer seems to
have issues with these upgrades. But what other programs? Perhaps the
time has arrived to do a comprehensive anti-virus, anti-malware and
anti-spyware sweep of the entire computer. Who knows what other problems
are lurking inside the computer.

Many thanks for all the help Ghostrider. Will do exactly that and in future i
don't think i will be upgrading anything 'just for the sake of it'. I will
be content that my computer is running smooth. Again thank you for all your
help with this.
