Windows Media Player 10 won't play .AVI or .MPEG files

Hi everybody

Why wont WMP 10 play AVI or MPEG files? When I first started up WMP 10 it
gave me a list of all the sorts of files it would be the default player for
and AVI and MPEG were ticked. But they dont work when I try to watch my music
vids from the internet site that automatically opens up WMP.
