my pc promted me to upgrade my wmp, which was working just fine. i did so
fromt www.windowsmedia.com. the download was unable to complete and i got a
internal application error. i uninstalled to my old version and i get the
same message. my pc 'help and support' told me to run a command promt
'regsvr32/u jscript.dll and to reinstall with 'regsvr32 jscript.dll' . this
did not help. i have attempted to reinstall wmp 10 several times and i get
the same result. i have xp pack 1, so i cannot install wmp 11. what else can
i do to fix this 'internal application error'?

First, you do not uninstall and reinstal WMP to a newer version. You download
the latest version and install it OVERTOP of current version, it is designed
that
way. You can download WMP11, but I do not recommend it, unless you upgrade
your system to WindowsXP SP2 first.

Order Windows XP Service Pack 2 on CD (it is FREE)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp2/cdorder/en_us/default.mspx

Windows Media Player 11 is available for download - CD Freaks.com

how to put windows media player back i try to uninstall mediaplayer 11 says i
still have a version on my computer

Do you have WindowsXP installed on your PC by either OEM or a retail
version? If you do, it is free, just go to the website and apply.

I just checked the website to order another copy of SP2 but a notice came
back that I already have SP2 installed. There is also another option to
download a copy (626Mb). If you have Cable or DSL it will not take long
to download it. You sure you do not have SP2 already loaded? To double
check if you have or not, go to: Start>Run>type WINVER and press OK.
You current version will be displayed.

A faster way to check is to click <Windows Key>+<Break> together.

That'll give installation properties, chip type and amount of installed
RAM instantly.

Mike, thanks for the add-on, but I have 3 keyboards and only one has
the Windows Key (the one I use), and on another the Break Key is called Pause.
