Hi,

Does anybody know the encoding settings for the High quality video (small)
profile provided in Movie Maker 2?

What I'd like to do is create a custom profile with the Windows Media
Profile Editor with slightly better quality.

Thanks in advance,

Gabriele

Maybe you can get enough info by making a movie with that setting and then
looking at the file's properties.

Hi,

Thank you for your answer. The "High quality video (small)" compression is
VBR, so I don't know if I can trust the audio and video bit rate reported
there.

From Media Player the audio is reported as "Windows Media Audio 9 VBR
Quality 75, 44 kHz, stereo 1-pass VBR". Should I assume that the video is
also compressed with the quality level set to 75?

Regards,

Gabriele

I guess I'd have to test it before assuming the setting. But the default
quality setting of 80 came up last week when using the version 9 video codec
to make and compress an AVI file - which I bumped up to 90 to check the
output. Maybe the default of 80 is also used for the VBR file.
