My PC has XP Pro.
I have recently connected to a LAN in a new office, which has several
workgroups for different compaines and divisions etc..
The printer I want to use is in the same small workgroup as me, within a
larger LAN; it is attached to a PC using Windows ME.
I can usually see the other PC in my network neighbourhood.
Briefly I could see and use its printer a few days ago, but now I cannot
access it or see it if I use the Browse option in the Add-a-printer
function.
Any ideas on how to use that printer?
The local LAN support guys suggests moving the other PCs from ME to XP Pro.
This may not please their owner, and it may be cheaper to buy an extra
printer!
I have previously connected to other printers on other LANs with no problem,
but not using ME I think. I seem to remember having some problem accessing
shared folders on an ME machine a year or so back too.
