windows ME freezes with adapter

similar problem to mitch it seems. installed router on
windows xp machine no issues. installed d-link usb adapter
on windows me computer and it will freeze on startup with
adapter plugged in.
if i start computer without adapter, it will do a normal
startup and then i can plug in the adapter no problem. i
have removed the startup group items in ms config but that
doesn't help. the checkmark in that spot looks grayed out
instead of not there and the start tab shows it checked,
but if i go to system tools, it IS listed under deisabled
startup items. any better ideas?

Try a Windows ME newsgroup.
 
or try other operating system. Win ME sucks and will crash for no reason (in
my experience)
