I have an older laptop running Windows ME. I just did a format and clean
install of ME and I downloaded and installed all ME patches from MSFT.

Trying to connect to an server running Windows 2000 Server and Exchange
Server 2000 using Outlook 2000 (all Outlook patches have been applied).

The first time I launch Outlook after the install everything works. However,
after closing Outlook and then reopening (with or without a reboot) I lose
connectivity with the Exchange Server (i.e. clicking the TO button in
Outlook generates a message saying Network Problems are preventing you from
accessing the Exchange Server). Trying to send an email after manually
typing an address results in a message "Operation Failed".

Some people have suggested that an upgrade to Windows 2000 on the client
will fix this but I don't want to spend the money if I don't need to....

Any other suggested fixes?

Thanks

Milly,

If I delete the old profile and add a new one it behaves EXACTLY like it did
with the initial install..... works once then fails.

Can you ping the Exchange server by name when this happens?

Milly,

Sorry for the delayed response. I had to get to the office to try... but
yes, I can ping the server by name... even when Outlook/Exchange seem to
lose their connection.

Try working offline by default in Outlook and sync regularly/scheduled
syncs....does this help?
