Windows Mail

I have windows Vista. As I never use outlook express it did not bother me
that I did not have it until recently. I now need the use of Outlook
Express(windows mail) but I do not have the program. It was not included with
my pc when I bought it and is not in the Vista package. Just recently I
bought Microsoft Office 2007 and it has the UPGRADE for outlook but not the
original program. When I do a search for Windows Mail it shows it but it does
not allow me to short cut it nor use it for email. I have to continually go
searching for it among my programs on the pc. I have tried to find a download
place ( I do not want to pay for it again as the upgrade was included with MO
2007. Can anyone help me please.

Outlook Express will not work in Vista, it came with earlier operating
systems such as XP & W98.
MS Office Outlook is not an upgrade of Outlook Express.
You can't download Windows Mail it comes with Vista.

Tell us what happens when you try to use Windows Mail?
Have you downloaded Windows Live Mail, (another mail application)?

It always bothered me. I find Windows Mail to be a PITA with things like
forgetting email addys all the time, just to name one annoyance. I never
once had these kind of problems with OE.

Windows Mail only "remembers" the last 29 email addresses that you Typed in.
These are stored in the Registry.
The auto-complete function only looks at this list, not your stored
contacts.

I know, but I don't like it. It's silly to me.

Windows Mail is only included with Vista. It can't be downloaded.
Are you sure you don't have Windows 7? Your description of the non-
functioning Windows Mail sounds just like it behaves in Windows 7.

go to C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\Winmail.exe and double click on it to start the program.

Shipped with Windows Vista is Microsoft Mail - not Outlook express and as
you didn't have it you wont miss it.
I think basically you're looking for the wrong target - look for windows
mail in programs.
I think you need to read the MS mail setup.
Creating a shortcut should be easy - right click on menu item and you should
be prompted for a desktop shortcut.

MS Office comes with MS outlook ( not outlook express!) outlook is a far
more developed suite of integrated programs which includes reminders for
everything!
