I have lost several (not all) emails from a folder I created long ago. the
message says
Windows Mail encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this
message. Check your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again.
Also, I cannot delete these messages.

mbell, If I try to delete a contact in windows mail (vista) windows explorer
closes and the re-boots itself. Been 6-hr's. with a Dell Tech. and couldent
fix it. What size ram does your puter have and what is the max u can install
in it?

This usually means you need to install this fix, with Windows Mail not
running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit version or
the 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version first. The wrong version
will just refuse to install. Certain common antivirus programs, such
as most of those from Norton or McAfee, or a recent one from Trend,
tend to cause such problems, although seldom immediately, so if you
have such a program, remember where to find the fix - you may need
it again.

If this doesn't work, what if any antivirus programs and other security
programs do you have? Many PC makers are hesitant to admit which
ones are problems after they have accepted money to install trial
versions of them on their computers.

In Windows Mail, click on Tools, then Windows Contacts. Right click
on the empty space at the right of the new window. Click on the triangle,
then Contacts, then Apply, then OK, then the X at the top right of the
contacts window. This is sometimes necessary if the contacts folder
has been accidentally changed to some other type of folder.

I tired that and I said the update does not apply to my system. I had run
that fix in the past for a similar problem. I verified the number in my
update history. Do you know why it wont work again?

It may have left something behind that said not to run it again.
Also, you may have tried the wrong one of the two versions;
the wrong one will do that.

If you still need help, what if any antivirus programs and other
security programs do you have? Some of them occasionally
create problems requiring other fixes.
