Ok, I bought a new lap top and it came with Windows Vista back in February
and have not had any major problems. I loaded my outlook 2003 and it has
worked fine until this morning. All of a sudden it has encountered an error
and needs to close. So I did manage to import everything into windows mail
and it seems to be working ok. My question is, if I click on the "x" to close
it - is it still running? With Outlook I could "close" it but it was still
checking for mail and I would get my envelope telling me I had new mail. Does
Windows Mail work the same way?

Thanks!!

No, Windows Mail does not work that way. You have to minimize it, for it to
continue to run.
The new Windows Live Mail, however, can be set to minimize to the
notification area of the task bar, when you click the "x".

How do I get that? Or better yet, is there anyway I can purchase Outlook 2007
- it didnt come with the 2007 Home & Student edition.

Thanks for the help!

Shawn,

THANK YOU! That link works great and since my outlook now refuses to work
after almost 6 months, this will have to do. You saved me from losing my
mind!!

Thanks again,

Dawn

I bought a laptop with Vista and Windows mail. However, Windows Mail dll
program is corrupt and I will like to reinstall. My disks do not have a
feature that allows me to reinstall individual windows programs - such
as mail. Is there anywhere else I can download the installation from ?

Incidentally, Outlook 2003 should work fine in Vista. If you need help
with getting it running again, there is an Outlook newsgroup.
Also, you could try uninstalling Outlook and reinstalling it.

What makes you think a Windows Mail DLL is corrupt?
No, you can't just reinstall Windows Mail.
I've seen reports that if you reinstall Vista over itself, it will keep
intact all data and programs. Never having tried this, I can't vouch
for it.

Another option would be to upgrade to Windows Mail's replacement,
Windows Live Mail, see
