I ca receive messages but cannot send. This problem just started yesterday. I
have checked all of my settings, followed the help suggestions, and disabled
BitDefender and still have had no luck. Here's the message that I get:
The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'Re: web',
Account: 'pop3.comfortmasters.net', Server: 'smtp.comfortmasters.net',
Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 sorry, no mailbox here by that name.
(#5.7.17)
', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

Thanks,

Scott

The error message is essentially saying that the recipient's email address
doesn't exist. This might be a bogus message. I checked the email address
you included and it was valid. Do you get the same error message for
different intended recipients?

How did you disable BitDefender? If you haven't done so already, uninstall
it completely. Create a new email account with the same settings as the
old account, then delete the old account. Try sending again.

The other possibility is that your ISP is blocking port 25 access to
smtp.comfortmasters.net since comfortmasters.net isn't your ISP.
Who is your ISP?

I am getting pretty much the same error message,
and just yesterday sent an email to the same recipient so I know the email
address is valid.
Any suggestions??

Carla, you already posted your issue under "Can't send email".
Once is enough.
