Well I am truly frustrated and have finally had my fill of Windows in any
form. You would think that before they released a new version they would have
worked out all the bugs wouldn't you? I should mention that my computer is
less then two years old and was pretty well top of the line when I purchased
it. I also did the online test to see if my system was compativle with
Windows Vista and passed with no problems. I have recently upgraded from
Windows XP and have found that the commercial that Mac has been running about
the frustrations of upgrading is true in every respect. After a month of
tinkering getting all the updated drivers for my perifrials etc I thought I
finally had it made...WHISHFULL THINKING!

I have chosen to use the Home Version of Office 2007 the one that doensn't
include Outlook as after reading about the NEW WINDOWS MAIL I thought it
would be sufficient for my needs. So, today I try and forward an email that I
got from a supplier to my head office...Well, the Screen Goes the Familiar
Blue Colour and the system shuts down and reboots. When it does I have the
email I tried to forward locked up in the out box and under no circumstances
can I delete it. It has stopped me from being able to send emails, I can
receive them but not send. I have checked for help in the communities feature
and tried to impliment the fix that Steve Cochran has posted all over the
place as it seems everyone has the same or similar problem with Windows Mail.
The fix doesn't work...I can't even find the data base
C:\users\gpmorhun\application data\local\microsoft\windows mail that Windows
Mail reprots that it is storing my data files in so I can't move them to
another directory and supposidly fix the problem. There was also a comment by
Steve that Micorsoft will most likely not provide a fix for this problem with
Windows Mail in the near future as it was a low priority. Does this mean
that Vista is so screwed up that it will take them years to fix like it did
with all the other versions and then bring out a competely new improved
version of Window (Something) and charge another $279.00 Can Funds to upgrade
and frustrate the hell out of the poor consumer? I am fed up and swear that I
am going to buy a Mac as it works right out of the box.

What do you think?

Really Ticked Off

As to MS fixing it, who knows, they are working on some things and one of
them is the database. When a fix is to come about who knows. They don't tell
us. We complain just as much as the average user.

As to not finding the folders and files, you've probably have the files and
folder hidden still.
Control Pane | Folder Options.
Views tab
Select Show all files
uncheck Hide file extensions for known file types.

My idea is to blow away the message store (move it to retain any messages
that might be there, if not, screw it, delete it) then delete the registry
entry for Windows Mail. Reboot Vista and start Windows Mail up again. It's
the hard route to take but it at least gets rid of the bs for a clean start
and not delete this or that file, blow it all away to ensure it's gone.

I noticed BestBuy had some Mac for $1500. Seems like it was a 20 inch screen
if it comes with it and not an extra addon.

I don't think I said it was a low priority. I just said the fix won't be
soon, or I don't think it will be.

As DG indicated, you have to show hidden files and folders and its best to
uncheck hide extensions of known file types. Then you will see the database
files and directories.
