Windows Mail can't handle web mail. There is a 3rd party tool called YPOPs
that may help: http://ypopsemail.com/

Gmail has POP3/SMTP settings on their site.

Using that information, I am able to use Gmail with Windows Mail under
Vista.

The steps provided at Gmail do work. My Gmail accounts are working
fine in Windows Mail. Be sure to configure your account at the Gmail
site for POP3 because the default is web mail.
