Windows Mail Won't Automatically Recieve

I just installed my POP account in Windows Mail. Windows Mail is set to
automatically display received mail when it's opened, but it doesn't receive
it until I hit the Send/Receive button. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Look for the Send/Receive messages in Options at General Tab in
Windows Mail. Check about "Check fo new messages every xx minutes."
And look for the options "If my computer is not connected at this
time:" choose ana action for examle "Connect even when working
offline"
 
Thanks Robert. I have it checking every 1 minute and hit the connect button.
I guess I'm just used to outlook where it would display messages as soon as
you opened it.

Every minute is far too often and can sometimes lead to polling the server
again before the previous process has finished. Your ISP might not like it.
 
So, do you suggest every 15 minutes maybe? BTW, I opened it this morning and
once again I had to hit Send/Receive to get my mail. I'll just deal with it I
guess.

**Update**
At the advice of this forum, uninstalled McFee and installed another virus
program. Problem solved. Winows mail works every bit as good as Outlook did.
The program I installed is The Shield 2007. Great product for $29.
 
To prevent mailbox problems on the server, you should not check
mail more frequently than every 5 minutes. For most people, 10
minutes is good enough.

You may also want to enable the option "Send and receive
messages at startup."

Glad to hear uninstalling McAfee solved your problem, but why
pay $29 for a replacement when Avast antivirus is free?

Come to think of it I did see that on the discussions but totally spaced it.
I just did a Google search for Vista compatible virus software and Shield
Deluxe was rated #1. You's be surprised of how many antvirus companies say
they are Vista compatible and are not. The McKafee I had came loaded on the
computer! Also, stay away from Bitdfender IMO. It worked great on XP but not
