I bought a new computer with Vista installed and I called the help line to
get everything set up. When the email did not send, the helpful gentleman
suggested that since my webmail works, the fact that the Windows Mail did not
work was not a big issue. I would like to get it running, however, and would
welcome any suggestions. Here is the error message that I receive each time:

Subject '', Account: 'pop.telus.net', Server: 'smtp.telus.net', Protocol:
SMTP, Server Response: '250 8BITMIME', Port: 587, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server
Error: 250, Error Number: 0x800CCC7D

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Account: 'pop.telus.net', Server: 'pop.telus.net', Protocol:
POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Thank you.

Both error messages indicate improper use of the SSL option for
a server that doesn't support it.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Advanced,
then uncheck the SSL option (two places).

I have unchecked the SSL options and changed to 8025 and now, I get this
message:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Fw: The right to work',
Account: 'pop.telus.net', Server: 'smtp.telus.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port:
8025, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

One more question please.....
Are you using POP e-mail settings or IMAP ?

POP email settings:
Domain name: telus.net
Server type = POP3
Incoming (POP) server = pop.telus.net
Outgoing (SMTP) server = smtp.telus.net

IMAP email settings:
Domain name: telus.net
Server type = IMAP
Incoming (IMAP) server = imap.telus.net
Outgoing (SMTP) server = smtp.telus.net
