Windows Mail Times Out

When I am receiving e-mail I will get a time out error saying the server
cannot be reached. If I reboot it will work fine for about 30 min. to and
hour, but then it happens again. I have disabled my firewall and anti-virus
and it still happens. I have contacted Earthlink and all of my mail
settings are correct, even my user name and password. The mail works perfect
on a Windows XP machine. Any suggestions?
 
How did you "disable" your antivirus?
Many have reported here that no relief was obtained
until McAfee or Norton Antivirus was uninstalled completely.
