Windows Mail Send a Reply Problem

For some reason, Windows Mail will put the wrong account on a reply to a
message. For instance, if you have two different accounts you check mail on,
if you do a reply, Mail will use the account the mail was sent to as the send
from address, rather than using the default account. This will keep you from
being able to send mail since you have to send mail from the default account.
I can't seem to find any setting to correct this problem.

There is no setting to change that behavior.
Windows Mail (and OE) always reply using the account which
received the message. Most people want it that way, so as
to maintain separate identities.
If you want to always reply from the default email address,
you can change the email address in the second account to
the default email address.

This doesn't make sense to me, since you have to send mail on the ISP you are
logged into. There are a lot of people who travel or have two residences in
different locations. If they don't watch which account the mail was received
on, they won't be able to respond to the message without changing the "from"
account because they receive an error since they aren't logged onto that
account. Seems like the default account should always send the mail so that
when you travel to another location, you just change the default account
instead of changing the server settings, which most people have difficulty
understanding. I guess because it's Microsoft, it shouldn't be easy or make
sense.

Actually, most people don't travel a whole lot, so the default
behavior suits those who mostly use their computer from one
location.

If you travel a lot, there are special workarounds that will
need to be employed. If your ISP offers SMTP on a port
other than 25 (say, 465 or 587), you're all set because that
can be used anywhere. If that option is not available, you
could get a free Gmail account, configure it for POP access,
then use the Gmail SMTP server for all your sending chores.
