I am having trouble sending mail from the Windows Mail Outbox.

Newsgroups are working and I am able to receive mail however with Windows
Mail.
Using the same settings in XP Pro with Outlook 2007, all is working fine.

I just switched from a DSL connection with Bellsouth.net to a Comcast Cable
High Speed connection, and along with the newness of the Windows Mail
Program...perhaps I have something setup wrong?

Can I make repairs to Windows Mail without disturbing the OS too badly or
will a clean install be best?

Has anyone else ran into this type of problem and should I report it?

Gary

Should I also file a report

Before you start trying to repair things, it might be a simple setup
problem.
When you try and send mail, what error message are you getting?

Connection to server failed..

Does it give an error number?

Its possible you have entered incorrect server settings or your isp might be
having problems.
Check what settings you need to use on your isp website, they should have a
support section.

No, because of problems getting a coordination between Outlook and Windows
Mail, I am unable to send email while reading newsgroups., so I am having
trouble responding...
I have to use Outlook for Mail, but can't read newsgroups thru Outlook :(
I can read newsgroups through Windows mail but can't send email from Windows
Mail...Go Figure.

Still sounds like you may have the wrong settings. Check the smtp server
settings on your isp website.

I know what you are thinking but the same settings work fine on XP Pro and
in Outlook.
Why would I have problems viewing newsgroups in Outlook 12?
Maybe because I have newsgroups open in Windows mail?
Its quite confusing having to use two programs where one used to be the
norm.
Even in IE, I don't have the option of Mail/News...Just Mail.

I wouldn't be surprised to find that I have something set wrong, I just
can't seem to put my finger on it.

I also get the following message:

"Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot
fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Office Outlook and set
it as the default mail client".

I don't see any way to do that in the new version of Outlook.

I don't have Outlook installed, but you should be able to set it as the
default mail client by clicking START, type "default" in Start Search, and
choose Default Programs in the Start Menu above. Outlook should be in the
list. If it isn't bug it.

Which version of Outlook are you calling the "new" version? 2007 beta?

To set Outlook as the default mail client,- Go to Start, Run - Type in the
following with quotation marks and press OK
"C:\program files\microsoft office\office\outlook.exe" /checkclient
