I went to my start menu and clicked on e-mail and it said the object no
longer exists and removed it from my start menu, how can I get Windows Mail
back? I have Windows Vista Ultimate.

In the Start Search box above the Start Orb, type winmail.exe, then right click
the winmail.exe that appears at the top, and select Pin to Start Menu.

no the program is completely missing, not even in program files

That's odd, you must have deleted or moved it some how.

Have a look to see if you have a folder called
Windows.old/Program Files on the C drive, there may be a copy in there.

I would recommend All Vista user install this free utility...
http://locate32.webhop.org/
Which is a very good disk searching tool that compliments
Vistas built in Search Facility and may people rate as better.

If then you still can't find it you may have to do a reinstall.

Another option is to take the opportunty to install
the proposed replacement to Windows Mail....

(I use it and think it a step forward.)

User Account Control (UAC) can help you prevent unauthorized changes to your
computer. It works by prompting you for permission when a task requires
administrative rights, such as installing software or changing settings that
affect other users. You must have turned it off, or you would have been
prompted regarding the advisability of deleting that file.

Go to Control Panel | Default programs and set WinMail as default there and
then see if you get a shortcut.

Also check for 3rd party program interference.

thank you everyone for your responses, but the program appears to be
completely gone, its not in the program files folder or anything, and I can't
do a re-install because I installed via download, is there anywhere I can
download windows mail from or something like that?

You installed what via download?
Windows Mail is not available via download.
Make sure your Folder Options are set to show 'hidden' files.
While there, you might also unhide system files, at least temporarily.
C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\ is normally not a 'system' or 'hidden' folder,
but perhaps something changed the attributes.

here is what is located in Program Files/WindowsMail
folder: en-US
inside there: msoeres.dll.mui and WinMail.exe.mui

well I tried that as you said and this is what I got:
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt file but was unable to fix some of
them. Details are included in the CBS log ...(location of cbs log...)
I tried to go to that log and it said acces denied even tho im an admin

when I try to open it notepad stops responding, and how would this help me
anyway? Theres no where to go where u can just cleann install it?

still no luck, there are NO windows mail folders, and I really personally
dont like windows live mail and want windows mail, theres no other way to do
this?

You may have to install Vista again. Sounds like something went wrong
during the original install.

How do you know you don't like Windows Live Mail? Did you try it?
