I get the following error when sending mail from windows mail:

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'Test', Account: 'pop3.mail.wowway.com', Server: 'smtp.mail.wowway.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 5.0.0 Access denied', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

The Bold text in the error is my e-mail address I am sending mail through. I have verified my servers and how WOW wants to authenticate, so all settings are correct. WebMail works and sending through the same account in a windows XP enviroment is fine (Outlook express, outlook2007)

I see there are many posts for send mail problems, however I have not found one that deals with the rejected e-mail showing as their own, when it is addressed to someone else.

If you can think of anything let me know.

Window Mail is not rejecting anything. That message comes from the server.
Are you connected through Wowway.com or some other ISP.

Are you on Wowway's network when this happens?
Or is this on a laptop, away from home?

I agree with Frank and Dave. It appears you are trying to use wowway.com's SMTP server
while connected to the Internet through a different provider. That is not allowed.
