What is the best newsgroup for asking questions for Windows Mail under Vista Ultimate?

This morning when I was checking my e-mail my gray delete key could not/would not function as it had a last night. Instead of deleting the highlighted mail message, it just beeps. I can still delete from the context menu. The weirdest thing! It worked last night when I went to bed, and the machine was not turned off. Weird!

MS.Public.Windows.Vista.Mail

You could try using System Restore. But watch out: if you have a Norton
product installed, go into it and untick the box protecting your Norton
product as this will almost invariably stop SR from working.

Let us know if this works for you.

Microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail is specifically for such
questions.

Sounds as if you have NumLock on - hitting the Del key with numlock on
generates a period instead of a Del command.

Bingo!

My son was using my computer while drinking a soda. It ends up he stole some soda in the keyboard and cleaned up without telling me. So the soda dried overnight and got rather sticky. When I depressed NumLock for some obscure reason the next day it stuck in the down position. Experiments in Notepad proved the case. Sure it is embarrassing!

Thanks all!

Stole == > spilled sigh. I use voice recognition software -- Dragon NaturallySpeaking -- and sometimes it doesn't. Sigh.

Not at all. Users do the strangest things ... ask me! :-)

Glad I was able to help you get it sorted out.

Not my son! :-)

My son is getting dangerously close to being told "stay the heck away from my machine!"

The funny thing: he has his own machine upstairs, running Vista Premium -- but my machine is faster with lots more memory and is running Ultimate. And his games run considerably faster and better on my machine.
