Windows mail - LDAP setting

I have try to add LDAP setting, I use import to put it from my Outlook 2003
to it, but it is not working, I have check with my IT colleague, he said it
must change some setting on registry, is it right? if yes, I have another
question, is it due to the change of registry, will happay take long time for
reply mail and seach e-mail address in LDAP?
