windows mail error message

When ever I receive an email with a link and I click on it I receive an
error. The error states that I have typed the address wrong. But it opens the
site anyway. It is very annoying to get this message.
Suggestions please.

A Third Party program is interfering in the process?

Possibly a Spam Blocker, anti-spyware or your Antivirus Application?

Disable them in turn and try your links?

Only the ones that you KNOW to be safe to visit?
