Is there a way to prevent "Local Folders" from automatically expanding when
I open Windows mail? I use Windows Mail only for newsgroups. In OE I think
I used to uncheck the box that said "expand folders with new mail" (or
similar). That doesn't work in WM. Anybody?

Thanks,

I have a similar issue, i.e. I wish to use Windows Mail solely for
newsgroups whereas I will use Outlook for mail. Presently there is one of my
several mail accounts displayed in Mail that opens automatically whenever I
open WM. My concern is if this be acount be deleted from WM, will it also be
deleted from Outlook?

No to the question. Outlook and WinMail keep a separate tally of accounts,
so you can remove the account in WinMail without affecting the account in
Outlook.

That's good to know for such questions.

I only use WM for newsgroups as well. The best I can find it to put
/outnews on the Windows Mail shortcut. This changes the name of the
program
to Microsoft Outlook Newsreader and gets rid of the email Inbox and ghosts
out email related menu items.

I could not get the /outnews extension to take. Deleting the email account
from Mail (but not from Outlook) did solve my problem of not having an email
account open when I open WM.
